From the readings: “Rend your hearts, not your garments, and return to the Lord, your God.  For gracious and merciful is he, slow to anger, rich in kindness” (Joel 2:13).

Thought for the day: God, you are present.  You are over us, under us, in us.  Thank you for all the good things you give us.  Let us also accept hard things from your hand.  Let us receive you, sense you everywhere, and share you with one another.  Be near us and accompany us.  Be under us and carry us.  Be over us and bless us.
